Performance certification sewer rehabilitation
The certification of contractors operating in the sewer rehabilitation sector, as provided for in Standard Tender Document 250 - art. 42 § 6, was started on January 1, 2025 (read more via Execert) under the BCCA.EXE mark. This means that for tenders for new projects and repairs as part of ongoing projects, certification has been in effect since 01/01/2025 and contractors can apply for certification from BCCA. Contractors should take this into account in their pricing.
Why process certification?
The rehabilitation of sewer networks represents a significant investment. BCCA.EXE certification aims to strengthen the management and monitoring of execution quality. It assesses the contractor's execution processes rather than the individual conformity of a specific construction site or final result.
What does BCCA assess?
The independent assessment covers, among other aspects, the company's organisation and allocation of responsibilities, staff competencies and qualifications, the techniques and products used, the availability and maintenance of equipment, working methods, internal controls, quality records, and the management of non-conformities and corrective actions.
The certified techniques include cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP), pipe insertion, GRP panels, short liners and stainless steel sleeves.
The technical specifications, certification rules (available online) and an interactive monitoring system have been developed in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
How does BCCA monitor certification?
Certification is granted to contractors for each specific rehabilitation technique.
Its continued validity is ensured through annual company audits, unannounced random site inspections and verification of execution documents available on the MyBCCA digital platform.

Clients can request that their projects be carried out under BCCA.EXE certification.
Through the MyBCCA platform, all parties involved have transparent access to relevant project information. Whenever action is required from the client or the engineering consultancy, they are notified by email.
