The Belgian Union for technical approval in construction (UBAtc npo) has designated BCCA as the certification body for most of the technical fields in the construction sector.
BCCA certifies that products comply with the provisions of a Technical Approval (ATG).
The ATG certification complements the Technical Approval (ATG) published by the UBAtc.
It demonstrates the reliability and fitness for use of innovative products and systems.
It guarantees that the manufactured and delivered products or system components fully comply with the characteristics defined in the ATG technical approval.
Why an ATG with certification?
The ATG validates innovative products and system components that are not yet covered by existing standards. It is a real asset for building market confidence when launching innovative and complex products or systems.
As soon as certification is granted, the technical approval is published: a guarantee of quality for the end user and assurance of fair competition for the certificate holder.
Thanks to the ATG with certification, designers, architects and contractors can easily verify whether a product is suitable for a specific application.
The earlier manufacturers contact a certification body such as BCCA, the greater the chances that their products or systems will meet existing or future technical and regulatory requirements.
Develop your innovations with a Certified Technical Approval
In the context of sustainability and circularity, the holder or applicant of an ATG may choose to integrate the following aspects into the approval. These aspects are then assessed during certification:
- Recycled and renewable content of construction materials
- Dismantlability
ATG certification complements the approval text published by UBAtc, which demonstrates the fitness for use of innovative products and systems for a specific application. This certification confirms that a product, or the components of a system, complies with the specifications described in the Approval.
A Technical Approval may also include installation or application requirements. In such cases, these requirements are also evaluated as part of the certification process.
The subsequent ATG certification confirms the conformity of the delivered products or system components with the published Approval.
Maintaining certification is based on continuous surveillance carried out by BCCA, in particular through the manufacturer’s self-inspection and external testing.
Voluntary certification
Voluntary certification of products, management systems, people or processes is not a mere formality, but a real strategic choice.
By committing to it, companies strengthen their market position and actively contribute to a more responsible, sustainable and ethical development of the sector.
Choosing reliability today means building trust for tomorrow.
